In May 2025, the NHS took a historic step toward the future of healthcare. Researchers at King’s College London and University College London announced they are training a powerful new generative AI model, Foresight, on de-identified health records from 57 million people across England.
The goal? To predict future health events such as hospitalisations, heart attacks, and new diagnoses before they happen.
This isn’t science fiction. It’s the NHS actively shifting from a reactive “treat the sick” model to a proactive “predict and prevent” system, exactly the philosophy that powers theBand by Cura+.
What Is Foresight and Why It Matters
Foresight is a generative AI model (think of it as a medical version of ChatGPT) that learns patterns from vast amounts of past medical events to forecast what might happen next for individuals and populations.
As Professor Richard Dobson, Deputy Director of the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre, explained:
“This pilot is building on previous research that demonstrated Foresight’s ability to predict health trajectories… To be able to use it in a national setting is very exciting as it will potentially demonstrate more powerful predictions that can inform services nationally and locally.”
Dr Chris Tomlinson from UCL added:
“AI models are only as good as the data on which they’re trained. Using national-scale data allows us to represent the kaleidoscopic diversity of England’s population, particularly for minority groups and rare diseases, which are often excluded from research.”
The model is being developed entirely inside the secure NHS England Secure Data Environment, with strict ethical oversight and public involvement. It currently uses broad but anonymised data (hospital admissions, vaccination records, etc.) and is being rigorously tested against real-world outcomes.
The vision is clear: identify high-risk patients early, enable targeted interventions, reduce unnecessary hospital visits, address health inequalities, and move Britain toward truly preventative healthcare.
Real-World Predictive AI Is Already Saving Lives and Beds
This isn’t the only example. In March 2025, NHS England announced the nationwide rollout of another AI tool developed by Cera that predicts patient falls with 97% accuracy during home care visits.
The system analyses vital signs in real time and flags deterioration early — helping prevent up to 2,000 falls and hospital admissions every single day. Early trials showed it reduced hospitalisations by up to 70% and is already saving the NHS over £1 million per day.
These initiatives prove the NHS is betting big on predictive health. The 10-Year Health Plan for England explicitly calls for the NHS to become “the most AI-enabled care system in the world.”
How theBand Brings NHS-Level Predictive Power to You
While the NHS works at population scale, theBand delivers the same predictive intelligence at the individual level, every single day.
- 15+ clinically validated biomarkers tracked continuously (glucose trends, ECG, HRV, SpO2, inflammation markers, sleep architecture, stress, body temperature, and more).
- AI-powered predictive alerts that detect subtle changes before they become problems.
- Personalised AI coaching with habit recommendations and science-backed natural supplement suggestions.
- Proactive vitality protection designed to help you stay out of hospital and maintain independence longer.
In other words, theBand is your personal Foresight, a wearable health guardian that turns the same predictive principles being adopted by the NHS into daily, actionable insights you control.
The Future Is Predictive, and It’s Already Here
The message from the NHS is loud and clear: the era of waiting until you’re ill is ending. Prevention, early detection, and personalised intervention are now national priorities.
Professor Bryan Williams, Chief Scientific and Medical Officer at the British Heart Foundation, captured the opportunity perfectly:
“The vital insights the Foresight model provide could transform our understanding of population and individual risk of developing heart disease, enabling us to better prevent heart attacks and stroke before they happen.”
theBand exists to make that same transformation possible for you, today.
By wearing theBand, you’re not just tracking your health. You’re participating in the predictive healthcare revolution the NHS is building, one that puts power back in your hands to live with greater vitality, confidence, and peace of mind.
